Desktop Publishing
Print-perfect layout
You have invested a lot of time and creative energy into designing your company brochure, product manual or customer newsletter, and it is important that the attractive layout and formatting of the document is preserved in the translation. We work with experienced DTP experts to ensure that this is the case.
The service
Pre- and post processing: File formats created in specialist DTP software (e.g. InDesign, FrameMaker, CorelDRAW etc.) usually need to be converted into a translatable format before the translator can edit the texts. This text-extraction process, and the post-translation reinsertion of the text is called pre- and post processing.
Post-translation desktop publishing: DTP is required to rebuild your document after the translation. Translated text usually expands (sometimes by 30% or more) meaning that the layout of the translation will need to be adjusted to preserve the professional look and formatting of the file. If the target language uses a different alphabet, it may also be necessary to adapt the fonts and text size for readability and to maintain the impact of the text.
Final proof: To ensure that the translated text is set and spaced correctly, a native-speaker translator will check the document before the final delivery.
